I would definitely jam in a band with three of my other selves. We’ll be able to make music pretty quickly because we literally have the same minds.

scytale@lemmy.zipto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•I hate Samsung and their dumb software design choices, and this is one of them. Why do I need a SIM card to enable a hotspot whereas every other phone works without one?English11·1 day agoI really hate how mobile hotspot is considered separate from regular data. It’s the same especially if your mobile speeds are are capped anyway. It’s like dental not being included in your health insurance as if your teeth aren’t part of your body.
scytale@lemmy.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What communities or instances do you have blocked to make your Lemmy experience more enjoyable?59·2 days agoI don’t have any. I instead subscribe to as many communities I find interesting and set my feed to only my subscriptions. I rarely venture out to All and only do when I want to discover more communities.

My wife says cream cheese and fruit jams/preserves.
A cozy EP, one that you can usually hear in jazz, fusion, and r&b.
An 8-string guitar with a clear heavy djent tone, like Meshuggah, Tesseract, and Animals As Leaders.

Me and a guy from another class got pulled in by the guidance counselor. He told us some girls from a higher year told him we brought porno mags to school. We were literally just a few months into high school and I barely knew the other guy. Maybe that was their idea of a prank? Anyway, nothing came out of it fortunately.

scytale@lemmy.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever seen (or heard of) someone IRL being a "karen", or otherwise use very manipulative tactics to try get what they want?English5·4 days agoWe have our very own Karen in our neighborhood. She’s the type who’s always mad in the neighborhood group chat. Like saying she has her husband kill any snake they see because she hates them, even though other people were saying some snakes aren’t venomous and actually help with keeping rats at bay. There was also a time where I mentioned outdoor cats (there is one in our neighborhood), while great at controlling rats, can also potentially decimate other wildlife like birds, etc. And she just scoffed and said she doesn’t care. Whenever someone alerts the group that there are suspicious people walking around or something, she always responds with “locked and loaded” or “shoot first before asking”, etc.
Anyway, if there’s one thing the entire neighborhood, including the Karen, is united in, it’s our hate for the useless corporate HOA. So on that front, I’m fine letting her loose on the HOA. We had the annual HOA meeting recently and while homeowners were taking turns airing their grievances on zoom, the Karen was blasting the neighborhood group chat because she couldn’t figure out how to unmute herself or type into the zoom chat lmao. So all she could do was swear in the group chat and telling us she was shouting at the HOA that they were liars, etc. even though nobody could hear her. Anyways, it wouldn’t have been productive if she could speak in the meeting because she’ll just swear and bitch at them, instead of the cooler heads who were making sure the HOA takes notes and commits to fixing the issues with timelines. We had lawyer and accountant homeowners who were more productive in getting what we needed.

scytale@lemmy.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Best instances with a good balance allowing free speech while avoiding disinformation/astroturfing?2·6 days agoProbably yeah. To be fair, I came from .world when I moved to .ee 2 years ago because of the almost daily downtime, so it’s a pretty low bar. I feel .ee has been performing exceptionally well since then though, and I immediately felt the difference when I moved to .zip. Not a knock on .zip though, I do like it here.
scytale@lemmy.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Best instances with a good balance allowing free speech while avoiding disinformation/astroturfing?3·6 days agoI chose .zip as well. Other pluses aside from similar federation principles:
- Isn’t involved with the big instance infighting
- Uses the latest version of lemmy
- Defederated from Threads
- The admin is transparent with the instance maintenance
Did you notice how .ee was noticeably faster? Really shows the exceptional job the .ee admins did.
Just got past 1 year ownership of a new build and had the 1-year warranty inspection done and worked with the builder to do the repairs. I think it has only started to calm down now, as we’ve finally experienced one year of living in the house and we now know what to expect throughout the year. Except for emergencies and major unexpected issues of course.
