David Steiner, a former CEO of the nation’s largest waste management company who currently serves on the FedEx board of directors, is poised to take over control of the U.S. Postal Service, becoming the nation’s 76th postmaster general.
The announcement of Steiner’s appointment, which heightened concerns from postal unions over possible efforts to privatize the USPS, was made Friday by Amber McReynolds, chairperson of the USPS’ Board of Governors, during a meeting of the independent group that oversees the service.
Why won’t the republicans let us have anything nice? Like, anything at all? They always want to destroy every public good. Every single one. No exceptions.
I think this time the Republican traitors are going to get what they want. The destruction of our mail service.

So you’d blame the delivery driver for something that’s totally beyond his control?
There are alternatives to harming the driver. The company likely cares far more about the wellbeing of their vehicles.
Maybe. They can do it if they can’t get workers to work. So, one way or another, it is partially their fault.
“Just following orders” maybe they should get a union job at UPS. That’s why I ship bigger items with them and not FedEx. USPS is just not set up for packages over a certain size or I would use them for everything.
Not a great time for that given the UPS layoffs. UPS is hardly a perfectly spotless company itself. I get it, participation means you could have chosen not to work for them and thereby not been connected in some way to the problem. But to be 100% guilt-free I’m not sure if anyone could be associated with any capitalistic entity, or even use their services.
Using an excuse made by Nazis and other military criminals when they murdered people to pin any potential future corruption actions of a company board leader on someone just doing a hourly job is… a bit of a reach.
I’m appalled at the continued erosion of what should be a federal service to the public, but the blame for that is not someone delivering packages. If anything going this route is a misdirection.
