You highlight something in Edge and release your finger from the button? New menu. Now you can copy it directly! Great! No need for right clicking every time, right? No! It only works in Edge! You want to copy from Outlook? Nothing! You highlight in Word or Excel? You can change the font of the selected text! No copy option!

You expect it to work a certain way and then it just doesn’t. Don’t get me wrong, I love right clicking, but expecting not having to and then still needing to click it is just… inconsistently inconvenient

<chuckles on linux> “he doesn’t know how to use the middle mouse button!”

(for people who may be unaware… in most linux distributions- all of them that I’ve used, and I’ve used a fair number; clicking middle mouse with text selected cuts and pastes the text. it’s one of those features that, once you get used to… you just can’t let go.)

Fun fact, Edge still has this stupid behavior even on Linux, so highlight and middle click doesn’t work properly since as soon as you highlight it pops up that stupid menu. You have to go into the menu and disable it before highlighting works correctly again.

Signed - someone who is fortunate enough to be able to use Linux on my work machine (yay!) but is still forced to use Edge on it (boo!)

Correction: it will copy, not cut. It’s also not using the actual clipboard, so you can basically have two things “in your clipboard”, which can also be a bit confusing.
