Well… yeah a lot of paper straws literally implode on themselves after about 2 good sucks. I tried going reusable metal straw but it started growing something in it even though I washed it daily. I think the old myth that the plastic straws were killing turtles has run aground seeing as that floating island of garbage is all fishing gear and cigarettes… so I just want to go back to plastic straws so I can enjoy a thick milkshake even if Im getting a heavier dose of microplastics my brain is full of them anyways from sitting here on my plastic sofa.

I’ve got some silicone straws and haven’t had that problem, although their softness makes them awkward to push in a plastic drink lid.
Were you rinsing it or actually using a narrow bottle brush to wash the metal straw?
