At 4:22 a.m. on Friday, as Texas’ Hill Country began to flood, a firefighter in Ingram – just upstream from Kerrville – asked the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office to alert nearby residents, according to audio obtained by ABC affiliate KSAT. But Kerr County officials took nearly six hours to heed this call.

The first alert didn’t come through Kerr County’s CodeRED system until 90 minutes later. Some messages didn’t arrive until after 10 a.m. By then, hundreds of people had been swept away by the floodwaters.

A couple hundred years ago, they probably had very effective ways to deal with people who willfully failed their duties like this.

"Then-Commissioner Harley David Belew voted against adding IPAWS to the CodeRED system after noting that it would require switching out the county’s equipment, which he said he’d done recently because of a federal policy change a few years earlier.

““I don’t think it’s going to change anything,” Belew said.”

    I’m sorry, what?!?

What is wrong with Texas’ public services? First that electricity debacle, now they can’t send an alert?

I’m standing by my theory that the powers that be in this country want to prune We The People down, passively.

It isn’t a theory, they’ve told you this to your face. How are people still not getting this ?

Some of his own proposals go further. On his blog, he once joked about converting San Francisco’s underclasses into biodiesel to power the city’s buses. Then he suggested another idea: putting them in solitary confinement, hooked up to a virtual-reality interface. Whatever the exact solution, he has written, it is crucial to find “a humane alternative to genocide,” an outcome that “achieves the same result as mass murder (the removal of undesirable elements from society) but without any of the moral stigma.”

yarvin and theil are your biggest problems, trump is just the diaper wrapped moron they slapped on the front of the bus. Waving signs at nazis is ineffective.

Failures at many levels. Let’s name those Kerr County officials. Let’s charge those who through their malfeasance caused so many deaths and injuries. smh

Come on, 90 minutes isnt that bad. It’s only twice as long as it took the Guadeloupe river to rise thirty feet that night.
