“Officials in the Donald Trump administration discussed loaning the oil-rich province of Alberta hundreds of millions of dollars to help it become independent from Canada, a prominent separatist is claiming.”

Big if true.

In other words…the entire Alberta Separatist Movement is just an astroturfed foreign influence operation, intended to undermine Canadian sovereignty.

    Just the reminder that

    A) These people don’t have the numbers:

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/alberta-janet-brown-may-2025-poll-separation-sentiment-1.7544074

    B) The Vast majority of Alberta is treaty/crown land which they don’t have rights to take with them.

The only way these people are seperating from Canada is committing treason and working with Trump. It’s unbelievable after what happened to Ukraine in 2022 these people are dumb enough to give Trump a reason for a invasion.

      Wrong answer.

You don’t start a debate on the technicalities of an absurdity, because the other side isn’t interested in a good faith discussion.

You shut it down completely, you call them what they are: stupid, gullible morons who need to keep their mouth shut since they can’t cobble together a coherent thought, or even outright traitors that need to be hanged.

Anything less is giving ground for free.

Keep believing that and they’ll just separate one day. Why would they care about the treaties? And if the US is backing the separatists there is nothing anyone would be able to do. Go to court they’ll ignore the verdict like with soft lumber.

Let’s trade the bits of Alberta that aren’t Crown or Treaty land for their entire west coast.

It’s as if all the wrong people got more money that they can use for asswipes in all their life in paper form, and don’t know what to do with it all.

So stupid. I mean, why does Putin need to capture Ukraine or parts of it? Why does Trump need this? What the hell.

Could have built a few Dubai mockups if that’s their ceiling, actually that seems above their ceiling.

Ok even if it was plausible for Alberta to separate, nevermind the legal BS with indigenous groups and those who are not for it, why would the oil rich province of Alberta need any fucking money from the US or anyone else. Really, go into servitude and debt for made up out of thin air money when we are sitting on the second largest supply of oil in the world (other than the fact that we throw ridiculous amounts of tax breaks and funding for oil companies to take our resources and make massive profits from it).

Look I am proud to be a Canadian, however I am very disappointed in our politicians and parties. The government has been fully 100% captured by business as people believed that having someone smart enough to run a company must be good to bring that same financial attitude into government.

The problem is that it is now concerned only for business and corporations and the people are seen as just the means to transfer government money (which only comes from taxpayers, and let’s not get into all the tax loopholes that corporations get) to corporations.

I get it, business need to make money, people need to make money, governments need money, but not all services provided by governments are going to be in the black and nor should they be. If governments or politicians really would stop bending over backwards for their own benefit then all of Canada (or most countries for that matter) would be further ahead. But in this world the almighty investor and the corrupt politicians are shitting on the citizens because their greed cannot be satisfied.

We can’t build shit cause the countries are broke, and it makes sense when you look at how the tax laws changed and corporations started paying shit all. Why are corporations granted the almighty right to huge profits on the backs of the people without fair compensation.

I get that this is not a new phenomenon but it needs to change, just like when people got rid of Kings (or at least relegated them to figureheads). Democracy, freedom where has it gone. Imagine, the government cannot spy on you without reason but hey some corporation put in some bullshit legalese into a 400 of contract (to use a calculator app etc) and some corrupt judge says it fine and now they can spy on you and manipulate you and sell everything to one of their 685 trusted partners (who probably have another 509 trusted partners each) and that is perfectly fine, oh and the government can buy that info.

Fuck me, we had the potential to lift everyone up and I mean everyone, but the greed of a few cannot be satisfied. Well if you ask me the few should be very fucking scared about what they are bringing on themselves, when you have no hope or future and nothing left to lose what will happen. This is why they are being so hard on Mangionne, they’re scared and they want to make sure you get the message, you are a serf and they are the kings, step out of line and watch out.

The entire system needs to be changed for the betterment of mankind not just the elite.

Edit to allow my typing to catch up to my thoughts.

I don’t think this was boycott dependent. The separatist movement in Alberta made sure they saw this opportunity.
