He had already written a load of what are now classics but still had to have a day job. Player Piano (1952) The Sirens of Titan (1959) Cat’s Cradle (1960) Mother Night (1961) God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater (1965) I’m sure there were also loads of short stories in that time frame. And for anyone who hasn’t read Vonnegut, I think it’s important that you try.
