Some white South African landowners are upset that the government is cracking down on land speculation. The government can seize land that’s not being actively utilized under a new law they passed a few years ago.

Right now, not much. They have problems with regular crime, mostly due to their history of apartheid, which is the origin of the term. But there’s lingering racism. Obviously some of the white people want out now that they’re the minority and not in charge.
Also, Elon Musk comes from the white South African colonists. So that’s where this specifically came from.
