Honestly, it seems that Christianity is the only one mentioned as a problem, normally with a big disclaimer about “not all Christians”. Judaism is only really mentioned explicitly with “Judeo-Christian values”, as if the founding fathers were staunch members of either religion, which most were not. Authoritarian governments like controlling religion because it can control the people. Leftists (at least the ones I’ve seen) are mostly ignoring the issues of other religions. Conservative critiques of religion tend to just be actual racism, without criticising the actual problems present.
Correct. Muslims and those that don’t practice Christianity are absolutely seen as lesser, which tends to be part of Christianity’s being seen as absolutely factual, and all those that don’t believe the exact same things are unenlightened savages and/or Satan worshippers. People don’t judge Muslims for their actual beliefs, they judge them because of their preconceptions of Islam, which is that its practitioners are all insane, violent, west hating terrorists. I meant that even most reasonable people at most blame some certain ideas of Christianity while neglecting to mention the issues of any other religion or Christianity as a whole. That’s not to say that Christianity isn’t causing the bulk of the problems caused by religion, it’s more that there’s other religions that cause more regional problems. I was raised Mormon, which is a group that is widely ignored or tolerated as a strange but reasonable enough cult. It is not. They have some DEEEPPLLYYYY troubling beliefs, including those that they pretend don’t exist and never have, namely racism, which only officially ended in 1979 (they wanted to keep tax exempt status), but continues to this day. There’s also the homophobia, transphobia, classism, and all other manners of bigotry. They have hundreds of billions of dollars and 2.3 million acres in the US. They own 2% of the state of Florida. They’re dangerous. They drive lgbtq+ kids to kill themselves. One of the current leaders approved conversion therapy experiments at BYU when he was the president there. I’m not an expert on Hinduism, I just know what I learned in my 8th grade history class. From what I learned, the upper castes basically colonized India, said that they were better because the religion they imposed on the lower castes said they were, destroyed any sense of class mobility, and had it set up so that their ethnic group would always be in power. Not an expert, any of that could be wrong. Yet, none of that is criticized by conservatives, they just spout untrue racism, probably because they agree with the bad stuff. There’s good and bad things to look for in every religion. Conservatives don’t know anything about the good or most of the bad, leftists don’t really know anything either, but especially ignore the bad. I’m going to finish a this by saying, just because someone believes some wild shit, doesn’t mean it’s okay to treat them worse than abyone else. God, this is so fucking long lmao
