An AI doesnt have motive and does not “do” things so much as parrot the culture that its trained in. Blackmail is a popular meme in human culture, so it makes sense that it would end up in training data and then spat back out later.

Is it reasonable to expect cops get the address right when they come to raid a house? No. Is it reasonable to shoot an innocent man trying to protect his house and family? Yes, if you’re a cop.
