I usually use a rice cooker but I think it’s roughly the equivalent of brown rice (because it’s also unhulled). In a rice cooker that’s close to 2 hours, but 45 minutes stovetop sounds about right.

crank0271@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why is it often cheaper to buy new than repair old and how can repairing be encouraged on different levels of society?English2·13 days agoWhat’s your background that you’ve developed this knowledge? I fantasize about learning to do some of my own electronics repair, but I wouldn’t know where to begin. I’ve looked at trade school and continuing education programs and some online resources, but I don’t want to be an appliance repair guy. I just want to know which component to order and replace when my Japanese hot water boiler burns out.

Edit to add: so far the style of this documentary is… odd. Maybe I haven’t watched enough of them or maybe the documentaries I’ve watched are higher budget, but so far from the first ten minutes, there’s a bunch of darkly animated footage rolling while each of the interviewees speaks over it. And perhaps I missed it, but I didn’t hear them describe what a PBM is - I had to read the video description on YouTube to see that it stands for Pharmacy Benefit Manager. Maybe this documentary blows the lid off this thing, or maybe it’s just got this conspiratorial tone and isn’t worth much.
Just listen for the moaning to stop
