And they’re actively looking to expand their borders too. Putin has referred to a Eurasian empire from Vladivostok to Lisbon.
His ideas are absolutely more brutal than those of the US, it’s just that his reach is less, and he hates that.

I will say this for Russia: they restrict their indiscriminate bombing and terrorism mostly to countries they actually border. I don’t know if that makes it any better, because it does mean they’re occupying a big part of another country and abducting or massacring parts of their population with the explicit intent of genocide, but at least it’s only regional instead of global.
Rich, coming from him.
He blindly jumped into a sudden exchange of bombs because he didn’t want to be left out. I’m pretty sure Israel and Iran know very well that Trump is out of his depth, and that that’s why they ignore him.
Of course he’s right that they should stop, but everybody sees he’s a broken clock that just happens to be right this time. He lacks understanding and authority to handle these sort of conflicts.
That is very well put, and as far as I can tell it applies to all forms of conservatism, from monarchism where the king is above the law and peasants have no rights, to oligarchy where the rich are above the law while the poor have no rights, to fascism where the inner circle and the stormtroopers who serve them are above the law while minorities have no rights, or class-based societies where your laws and rights depend on your class or caste, and theocracy where the clergy decides your rights and obligations depending on your position.
the administration is “not going to ignore the rule of law.”
So why is Trump not in prison, then?
This administration has constantly ignored the rule of law.
Medvedev’s credibility is low indeed. He’s always the one to do the nuclear sabre rattling.
Even so, I wonder if this might not work as a devious plan for them. Give Iran a nuke, and if they use it offensively, they’ll be the ones testing the rest of the world about what they’re going to do about it without any risk of Russia getting turned into a steppe of glass.
Israel might get destroyed, Iran might get destroyed, but Russia will survive. And if Iran survives, that gives Russia more confidence that they will too if they use a nuclear bomb.
What a bizarre, nonsensical waste of money. Can they at least postpone the auction until they have a superior replacement available? That should postpone it for a couple of decades.
I don’t think undermining the right to a fair trial is the prosecutor’s job. And public opinion shouldn’t matter in a court of law.
Putting some limitations on slavery.
If he really believes the two countries should be united, he could always decide to surrender to Ukraine and give Ukraine control over Russia. I’m sure Ukraine would do a better job of governing Russia than Putin has done.
Good! The unreliability of German trains has been utterly surreal lately. We went on vacation by train from NL to Switzerland last year, and of course that connection goes through Germany. Confusion, delays, cancelled trains, 5 layovers with a ton of luggage (instead of the 1 we booked), standing in trains instead of sitting in our reserved first class seats. Even if you don’t arrive all that late, it’s still a terrible trip.
Before that, I’ve had a major event at Essen where the last connecting train to the ICE from Düsseldorf was cancelled. Tons of people stranded. I made it by paying through the nose for a taxi because I saw that their replacement bus wasn’t going to make it.
Some fixes to their crumbling system are clearly long overdue.
If one atrocity justifies another, the atrocities won’t stop until everybody is dead.
I don’t see why not, but it’s a lot harder to make a good case against Vance than against Trump (where it’s trivial to find plenty of crimes).
Not the first time. In the 1980s, Israel sought to undermine PLO (which wanted a 2 state solution) and supported a group opposed to PLO called, I believe, Hamas.
I think they’re both right. The government should cut all ties with Musk’s businesses, and Trump should be impeached. That way everybody wins.
It seems he wasn’t aware that his cult following came from the other end of the political spectrum.
Well, not quite the other end, but environmentally inclined business friendly liberals are still not quite Trump’s crowd.
What!? But that haka was awesome! How can you not enjoy that?
From what I know, those agents can be absolutely fantastic as long as they run under strict guidance of a senior developer who really knows how to use them. Fully autonomous agents sound like a terrible idea.
The American obsession with bathroom segregation is weird. In other countries, women will sometimes use the men’s bathroom when there’s a long line in front of the women’s and not the men’s. Fathers needing to change a diaper on their kid sometimes use the baby changing station in the women’s bathroom if that’s where it’s located (though that’s increasingly being fixed).
This is not something that requires excessive legislation if you can avoid obsessing over other people’s genitals.
Honestly, if he can get them to switch from those gas guzzlers to Teslas, that would still be better. But for that to work, the brand has to be utterly reviled by any “libtards”. So keep sinking Tesla and let the Nazis rescue it.
