For me it’s The Rock and Chris Pratt.
Guardians of the Galaxy was great but I just wish he would stop playing starlord in every other role he’s in!
Billy Bob Thornton. The prick.
Tom Hanks. I’m not sure why, as he seems like a perfectly nice person, and even a good actor. But I just find him incredibly irritating for some reason.
He needs to start subverting peoples expectations of him. Do a horror film and be the murderer or be a shitty corporate CEO or something.
You can tell my generation has mostly aged out of social media because no one has said Pauly Shore.
Jonah Hill
I don’t know why, I know nothing about him and I even had to look up his name because I had no idea what his name was. But there’s something that upsets me badly.
Melissa McCarthy does that for me. It’s getting better, but for the longest time I’d see an interview with her about some project and she’s funny, charming, intelligent, and convinces me to check it out. Then I would watch the thing and it’s like “Haha fat girl poopoo fart.” .
Kevin Hart- doesn’t act, plays himself but doesn’t lean into that like Ryan Reynolds does. Will Smith- more of the above in recent years Jonah Hill- something inside me screams asshole every time I look at him Tom Cruise- he can take his propaganda elsewhere.
Jonah hill isn’t a shitty person for not wanting to be referred to as the fat comedian. People only saw him in his personal life in shitty interviews and thats why people think hes an asshole.
Check out the Edgar wright interview, they were very aware of it even when superbad was just coming out. FYI that interview is a bit.
I will definitely take a look at that! Sorry, I didn’t mean to imply that this was because of weight. He just ends up coming off as very snooty in a lot of his serious roles to me. He gives villain vibes in those roles, genuinely never watched an interview of him personally tbh.
Apologies I was referring more to popular opinion than your specific opinion. I can’t think of a movie that fits the word snooty though, do you have an example? I could maybe see that from the movie “Don’t worry, he won’t get far on foot”.
Jared Leto
I think he nailed the character in Bladerunner 2049, but maybe it suited him so it worked.
All credit goes to the director, as Denis gets top notch performances from every single person in his films.
I mean there’s a list of actors that have ruined their shows for me:
- Danny Masterson
- Bill Cosby
- Kevin Spacey
- James Franco
- Kevin Sorbo
- Tom Cruise
So it’s not really what you asked because these are ones that I used to love and no longer do.
For the dumbest reasons, I can’t enjoy Gal Gadot. Her acting is repellent to me for some reason. Yes, she’s absolutely gorgeous but the acting ain’t great. I also didn’t enjoy Heather Graham’s acting but then I watched her in Scrubs and the role was just perfect. I hated The Rock’s acting as well, but my ex had a crush on him so we watched so many of his movies. Almost all of them shite.
I had an internal laugh to myself in the Wonder Woman movie when the Amazons had an Israeli accent. I guess it was easier to train everyone else to mimic her accent than it was for her to not let it slip.
I’m surprised to see no Chris Pratt (or CP, as he likes to be called) in this thread.
But Chris Pratt for me.
Ooof he does know what cp stands for right
Crease pattern if you are into origami.
Henry Cavill. I’ve got nothing against him, I just can’t stand his face.
I don’t switch anything off faster than when Danny McBride shows up
I used to think he was just a crass asshole but after watching and then loving Righteous Gemstones, he grew on me. Gemstones is such a crazy, hilarious, and satisfying show and the fact that he created/showran it changed my mind about him
Eastbound and down is pretty wild too. His sense of humor is always one step ahead of me for some reason and it works.
Collin Farrel and Kristin Stewart.
They’re just not good actors. They’ve been in a couple good movies, but those movies succeed despite, not because of them.
I always had this impression that Colin Farrell was just a pretty boy with no acting talent. But then I saw him in Banshees of Inisherin and my mind was blown. He was amazing - his performance absolutely gutted me. If you’re willing to give him a try, you should watch that movie.
Hey klem!
Hey friend! How’s your Friday going?
Pretty good nice and quiet how is it with you?
It’s not my favorite Friday ever - I had to have a colonoscopy this morning 😬 but afterward I had a huge breakfast and a 5 hour nap and I feel like a million bucks now!
Got anything good going on this weekend?
Oh no colonoscopies are never fun! Glad you had a huge breakfast after. I spent the morning running round doing errands and chores but I’m gonna have a boxset afternoon! What about you?
Nice, enjoy! What are you watching?
I’m doing a bunch of housework today and then having my folks over on Sunday for Mother’s Day. It’s absolutely gorgeous out so I might try to get a little gardening in too :)
Julia Stiles. Saw her in Save the Last Dance and some other movie and absolutely could not get on with the movie. It’s like she’s not acting or doesn’t know how to act. She’s kind of like in audition mode the entire time and I just don’t get anything from her face or her actions. I sometimes get the same thing from Keanu but at least I like the movies he’s in. With her I just rage quit 5 min in seeing her. She just ruins it for me. Also yes, also don’t like The Rock. I’m sure we saw the same YouTube vid where the guy bashes on him for not knowing how to act as any other “character”… which when looking back, it’s true. He’s literally the same persona every god damn time.
Came here to say Julia Stiles but you totally beat me to it! I cannot stand any film she is in either. It’s really hard to describe, but your description is spot-on. It’s like an empty husk with makeup has been made to act.
Hugh Grant. I’m sure he’s both a wonderful person and a great actor, but… he seems to have gotten typecast into a certain type of movie that I just cannot stand. He’s become a litmus test for movies I should just not bother watching.
I’d recommend watching Heretic. I thought he crushed it as a bad guy. I also liked him in The Gentleman. Both are far from his Notting Hill and Two Weeks Notice romcom type stuff.
Wtf, Hugh Grant as a bad guy? I’m intrigued.
Yes, that Oompa Loompa was nasty.
I watched this when I had covid and holy shit i was not in a fit mental state to deal with hugh grant oompa loompas
Tom Cruise I just don’t like anything about him
Will Smith, because he’s annoyed me in every role after Prince of Bel Air
Be glad Will Smith turned down being Neo in The Matrix… To do Wild Wild West!
