A former Pentagon contractor works with secretive sections of US special forces, then ups and moves to Russia. He gets married, radicalizes and starts popping up on Telegram channels as the leader of a neo-Nazi terrorist group recruiting Americans.
Yes. They have been for years now. Our far-right are a bunch of fucking idiot assholes, and easily manipulated.

It’s fully documented.
Leave “Our” out of sentence to make it more accurate.

They’re also for sale. Don’t forget, they will promote whatever bullshit they are paid to say. No matter how stupid or dangerous.

I came here to:
- State the obvious response for the article’s question: Yes.
- Up-vote just about every commenter for this post.
They’re also coopting far left groups to further their goals as well. Lets not kid ourselves.
Where do you think all the ‘don’t vote because X’ reasons suddenly came up a few months before the election in leftist circles?
I mean some people legitimately were not comfortable with supporting any candidate that wouldn’t address the ongoing genocide in Palestine. I voted for Harris, a lot ofpeople did because they understood what was at stake and that obviously Trump would be worse. But there were a lot of people who just couldn’t do it. Yeah I get at a lot of them, but I also would be lying if I said I didn’t understand why they did it.
All this is to say I would not attribute most of those people to “Russia.” We have to talk to them too about how we want to move forward instead of writing them off as brainwashed/incapable of coming to the conclusion on their own.
Yeah I don’t think anyone would disagree with any of that. The problem was the hyperpartisan one-sided coverage. It in itself was often foreign opposition propaganda. It was so heavy and thick. Taking all the air out of every room. Just focusing on how bad Biden and Harris were. Putting the whole burden of the problem on their shoulders. So much so. That many people thought that Trump would be better because of the lack of coverage. Biden and Harris were not my candidates either. As an anarchistic I held my nose and voted for simply because of self harm prevention. But I also knew enough not to participate in amplifying the propaganda as well as pushing back against it.
Never let it be said that the left isn’t manipulable or even as easily manipulable. We are our own worst enemy. Plenty still can’t acknowledge their role in helping to amplify that message to the fascists gain. We do it to ourselves every time. We’re naturally at a disadvantage on messaging. Simply because all mass media these days is outright fascist owned. But on top of that the left simply cannot message or Focus. Though that at least is not anything new.
One of the defining characteristics of this era is the legacy media from time to time timidly noting the possibility of something that’s been recognized as at least nearly certain down here in the trenches for months or even years.
Of course Russia is co-opting far right groups to attack western democracies. Any honest person who’s been paying attention should’ve figured that out by now - it’s not like they’ve been subtle about it or anything. And it’s been commonly recognized for months now (and less commonly asserted for years).
But at this late date, along comes the Guardian, hesitantly saying, "Um… well… you know… it might just barely be sort of possible that maybe…
Duh?

We learned a decade ago that every adversarial government in the world targets the right specifically because they’re gullible and credulous. We know that because they told us they do.
Yes. Next question.
What, did The Base founder fleeing to Moscow or the Russian honeypots oddly popping up in right wing protests give it away?
