The Department of Agriculture is demanding states hand over personal data of food assistance recipients — including Social Security numbers, addresses and, in at least one state, citizenship status, according to emails shared with NPR by an official who was not allowed to speak publicly.

You don’t have to concentration camp people if they’re dependent on the government to eat. You just have to cut off the money. They’ll starve all on their own.

This is not the first time in recent days that NPR has reported on information from anonymous sources who are not authorized to speak publicly.

Kudos to NPR, and kudos to those sources.

Hmm, they’ve made lists of autistic people, trans people and poor people. These fascists sure do love lists - can’t imagine why.

As long as they don’t make a list of all the gun owners, they’ll probably retain power.

Doubtful that any lists they have are particularly accurate. There’s a lot of loopholes and decentralization/fragmentation on where that information is.

Several states require firearm registration, as does the fed for certain types of firearms.

That’s an interesting way of spelling, “no.”

Most states do not require firearms registration. There’s a handful that explicitly prohibit it. As far as states that have a general firearms registration is concerned, it’s limited to Hawaii and DC, so sure… you’ll get some people on a list there.

CA, CT, NY - there’s only a registry for certain types, not all.

There’s also no federal firearms registry whatsoever.

But the answer isn’t “no”. There are lists. That’s what the registry is. It’s a literal list of people who own firearms.

Personal data that won’t be shared with anyone, but coincidentally there will be a spike in ICE investigations on people of color in those areas.
